Avera-Clarke House Bed & Breakfast

Add to plan Remove from plan

Bed & Breakfast in a beautifully restored Victorian Home (1890) and enjoy the surrounding grounds. Relax and enjoy good old southern charm in one of the five guest rooms nestled amid the tall oak and magnolia trees in downtown Monticello, Florida. Near Tallahassee and FSU and FAMU and Thomasville. Our victorian home and surroundings will remind you of life in times past with its simple pleasures and the hospitality of days gone by.

Built by Sen. (Fla.) Thomas Clarke, a civil war veteran and signor of the Second Florida Constitution (1875). His son Sen. (Fla.) S.D. Clarke occupied the home until 1974, and lead the Florida Senate's infamous Porkchop gang.

The renovated guest Cottage (1821) on the grounds is the oldest residence structure in Jefferson County and survived the turbulent time after Florida became a territory. Come stay in a part of Florida history.
