Celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2020, the historic and whimsical 35-acre subtropical estate and house museum features a fanciful blend of art, architecture, history and ecology, while providing a charming visit for residents, vacationers or day-trip visitors of all ages.
Bonnet House is a part of Florida's unique history. It was built in 1920 as the winter retreat of the Birch/Bartlett family. The estate and house museum showcase the natural beauty of South Florida, which is situated on one of the last examples of a native barrier island habitat in the region. At the Bonnet House, visitors can experience what life was like on a beachfront estate in the 1930s and 40s. The grounds contain the Main House, which features a whimsical collection of decorative and fine art, as well as a nature trail that is ideal for nature lovers and families.Through enjoyable and enriching cultural experiences, the Museum connects today's community to the Bartletts' architectural, artistic and environmental legacy.
Bonnet House is located at 900 North Birch Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 and is open for self-guided tours Tuesday - Friday 11am – 3pm, Saturday & Sunday 11am - 4pm. Guided tours are offered Tuesday - Saturday, please check the Bonnet House website for the schedule and to register.
