The South Course is a Donald Ross design that was opened in 1922. Many of the original features remain. The South course is a short, sporty golf course that is generous from the tee, but requires precision approaches in order to make birdies. Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead and Jimmy Demerit played a challenge match on this course in 1946 with Demerit shooting 64 to secure the win.
