This 4,000 sq.ft.museum features the history of the early Destin pioneers from the 1830s, the evolution of the fishing industry from seine boats to party and charter boats, and over 60 fish mounts of local species caught by anglers out of Destin.  Come see the IGFA World Record snapper and our famous Fish Wall and Shark Tank.  Experience the exciting and educational exhibits detailing early Destin life and its founders, while observing the photos and artifacts chronicling the evolution of Destin's Fishing Rodeo which started in 1948. On exhibit outside the Museum is the first Post Office building in Destin built 1935 and the famous "Primrose" seine net boat built in 1925.  Other features in the Museum are historic photographs and artifacts of early Destin and the fishing industry, collections of antique fishing rods, reels, and lures and other fishing equipment as well as items found in early homes.  The Museum has one of the handcrafted rods used by Ernest Hemingway.  Many prehistoric native American points and pottery found along Destin's shores are on display. Portraits, histories, artifacts, and equipment from the early families and captains abound throughout the displays.
     Scavenger hunts for children and "young at heart" are availble as well as special tours for school groups or for special occassions such as family reunions.
