Opened in 1973, this sprawling 669-acre park is perched at the edge of the Everglades Conservation Area, which is accessible from one of the park's two boat ramps. A series of interlocking lakes offers opportunities for fishing and the use of personal watercraft. One of the site's most prominent features is its outdoor target range, one of two such outdoor public ranges in Broward County. The complex includes 50-yard and 100-yard rifle/pistol ranges, skeet/trap fields, a milelong sporting clays course, a pro shop, and a clubhouse with snack bars and a meeting room. Among the park's other distinctive amenties are the Fox Observatory, a model airplane field, and mountain bike trails. The large campground includes 88 sites for RV and tent camping, with full hookups. Athletic facilities include a tennis/racquetball center, a biking/jogging path, and volleyball areas. Boats are available to rent, and there are also nature trails. A corporate shelter has a capacity of 250+, and there are two large picnic shelters (capacity 61-90), four medium shelters (41-60), and one small shelter (20-40); all rental shelters have picnic tables, grills, and water, and some have electricity. Other picnic tables and grills are scattered throughout the park and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The park has a gate entrance fee of $1.50 per person (children 5 and under free) in effect on weekends and holidays.
