The Museum of Florida History in downtown Tallahassee focuses on the unique heritage of the Sunshine State and is the official state history museum.

Through its engaging exhibits and wide variety of educational programs for all ages, the Museum showcases Florida's development and how Floridians were impacted by state, national and international events. The permanent exhibits focus on the social and cultural history of the state and range from prehistoric Florida through the 20th century.

Highlights include the skeleton of a mastodon, a life-size diorama of early Floridians on the St. Johns River, interactive displays on Florida's extensive colonial history, authentic Spanish gold and silver coins, an early tourism exhibit featuring a recreated Tin Can Camper, Grandma's Attic for children, the recreated front portion of a Florida steamboat, original artifacts from World War II, and more.  Changing exhibits highlight significant cultural and historical aspects of Florida.
