Add to plan Remove from plan

The Seminole name of this 138.6-acre urban park loosely translates to "meeting or gathering place," and on any given day the diverse clientele serves as a reminder that the park more than lives up to its name. Joggers and walkers, school groups, and campers are just a few of hte visitors you'll find taking advantage of T.Y.'s varied amenities. Among the rental meeting facilties here are a corporate shelter (capacity 250+), a lakeside gazebo (20), three large picnic shelters (61-90), eight medium (41-60), and one small (40-60), as well as a meeting room (35) next to the park office. All shelters have water, electricity, grills, and tables. Recent renovations brought the number of sites at the park's campground to 61, all with full hookups. Showers/restrooms, laundry facilities, and a covered playground are nearby, and primitive group camping is also available. Along with the campground expansion, there were other renovations throughout the park, including repaving a two-mile loop of pathways for walking, jogging, skating, and biking. The park's original sand-bottom swimming lagoon was also replaced by a hard-bottom pool with a zero-depth entry feature. The pool is part of the park's Castaway Island complex, which features two interactive water playgrounds, a picnic area, a concession stand, restrooms, 20-foot Funbrellas for rent, and a marina with boat rentals. The park also offers tennis and basketball courts and areas for playing volleyball. T.Y. has a gate entrance fee of $1.50 per person (children 5 and under free) in effect on weekends and holidays. The park is accessible via Broward County Transit Routes #3, #12, and #17.
