Rated one of the top 10 zoos in the U.S. by TripAdvisor.com in 2014, this 340-acre zoo showcases more than 3,000 animals including koalas, tigers, and elephants in large open-air exhibits.

Things to do and see include: the 27-acre Amazon and Beyond, American Banker's Family Aviary - Wings of Asia, Dr. Wilde's World, Samburu Giraffe Feeding Station, Kaziranga Camp Rhino Encounter, the Zoo Squad, Wings Down Under: A Parrot Feeding Experience, Playground Playworld, and zookeeper talks throughout the day.

Rent a Safari Cycle, ride the monorail or take a guided tram tour to see the zoo. Picnic and party facilities are available for birthday parties, picnics, and weddings.

For visitors with disabilities:
- Zoo Miami's four miles of walkways and all of its exhibits are wheelchair-accessible, including the Wings of Asia Aviary with its roughly 85 species of colorful, free-flying birds.
- Manual wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles are available for rent; reservations are recommended.
- The zoo offers narrated tram tours of the Asia and Africa sections.
- Service animals are permitted.
- The zoo's app provides an interactive map with clickable information about the animals.
- Sign language interpreters can be requested through the county parks department with at least seven days advance notice.
